i will finish 2012. . . if it kills me.

I haven't posted any Project Life pages in a while because. . . well, I hadn't done any Project Life pages in a while. But in the last week or so, that has changed. I am into October and have all my pictures printed for the rest of last year. (That whole sending pictures to be printed thing was quite time consuming, but it's done.) For the record, I've also finished 2012's A Week in the Life album, which I did digitally on Shutterfly. I wanted that finished because Sept. 9th starts 2013's A Week in the Life project. And I have a teeny tiny more to finish on 2011's WITL album, so maybe I'll be able to crank that one out too. We shall see.

Here are my pages finishing July, August, and September.

I have a couple other pictures hidden in the 3X4 pockets. I'm waiting on my sister to send me a picture of her house to finish the title card, and I still need to journal.

 Used three 4X6's for pictures of the fires in Colorado and the mountains on the trip home.

 August. I had a lot of pictures of my dog, so I ended up making several 4X6 collages.

 A picnic and a frog in the kitchen sink.

 Gardens, birthdays, job searches.

 A trip to the Dahlia Festival and Long Beach for Phil's birthday. I enlarged the beach picture to 8X12, but I didn't do that great of a job cropping it because when I cut it apart to put in the protector, I had to slice right through the water. It just looks weird.

Covered bridge and more notes about Bible study, worship team changes, and not having a teaching job :(

My project life goal is to use up some of my stash. I don't have a core kit, but I do love the cut apart journaling sheets and labels. I'm feeling pretty good about the progress I've made this week.

project life . . .

Back today with more of my project life pages. These document the first part of our summer trip to Ohio. I used the 'My Family' paper collection from Fancy Pants that I bought in the clearance bin at Craft Warehouse a long time ago. It had the journaling cards and cutouts. I added a few travel stickers, labels, and whatnot from my stash.

continuing on with project life

Despite the fact that there are lots of ladies out there in the world wide web who've got it all together and are already posting pictures of their 2013 albums, I'm pressing forward with getting this thing done. Baby steps. And I need to remember to take more pictures. January is half over. Yikes.

Here are my pages from June and part of July. I have lots of July pics since we were on vacation in Ohio and those pages are almost done.

June is the 'annivirthday' month. Our anniversary is on the 12th and my birthday is on the 13th. 

The note on the card from our pastor cracked me up so I had to include it - "Another year in paradise!"

My birthday page - it's all about mini cupcakes, Sheri's Berries, yoga mat flip flops, and making strawberry jam for the first time ever.

Those two days were pretty much all that I recorded for June.

Moving on to July. . . we hosted a 4th of July BBQ at our home and had a great time. Later we watched the whole city of Vancouver blow up thousands of dollars in fireworks from the comfort of our own back yard. Pretty much any direction you turned you could see something with lots of action coming from Camas.

 

I used shimmery blue paper for the title.

 

I asked Phil to tell me what came to mind when he thought about fireworks on the 4th in Vancouver and he said, "It's like a war zone." So I used that as my journaling card title. Love it.

The weekend after the 4th we had company, an old college friend I hadn't seen in 20 years and his family came and camped out in our back yard. So much fun catching up with him. Coffee date with a friend, roses from our yard, and of course, I also had to include Mary Lou. My hero.

I have lots of pictures in slots and I just need to finish up some titles and journaling. So expect to see more of this stuff soon. Can I just say, I love this album!!!

project life: april/may

Back with another project life update. I think I have ADD sometimes because these little pockets are taking me way too long to get done. But I'm still working on it. . . howbeit ever so slowly.

 

I have already completed most of April (see my last post) and I did a week in the life in April as well, so all we have left is Easter. It makes April slightly out of order, but I'm ok with that. I decided to make an 8X10 collage of the paparazzi pictures from our self-timer shots. I didn't like how it looked in an 8.5X11 protector, so I decided to put it on a 12X12 page and pretty it up. These pictures were all just too funny to not include somehow. (We didn't know our camera would take up to 10 timed shots, so when the camera kept going things just got hysterical.) And besides, it preserves the memory of Phil wearing his Jesus tie to church for yet another Easter for all time. Thus the cheesy title which is my least favorite part of this page. What I do like about it is that I used up some purple Creative Memories letter stickers I've had for-e-ver.

The back side of that page is still empty. It will probably stay that way unless I can figure out something real cute to put on there. Right now, I got nothin'.

Moving right along to May where the orange/green/blue theme is going strong. This is also the very first time in my scrapping career I've ever used a button on a layout. I am so behind the times. May was all about getting stuff planted around here in our new home. . .

and then there was that peksy little nose injury.

We went to a Portland Timbers soccer game with Phil's work and I found one of our ticket stubs. Usually I collect these things right away. I guess I'm a slacker. I journaled how I want a Timbers scarf for Christmas so I can be like the rest of the crazy Timbers Army. Craziest fans ever.

May also included Teacher Appreciation week. I saved a Starbucks card from a student and trimmed it down for one of the 3X4 pockets. I also saved a card with a wonderful note from a parent thanking me for teaching her daughter to read in the bottom corner. That note totally made my year.

With the rickrack, button, ribbon, and gift card, this page is a little bulky. Not sure how well the protector will hold up with it all. I guess we shall see.

One thing I've noticed is that I need to get on the ball taking more pictures of us. And I need to hand the camera over to the hubs and let him take pictures of me. Despite the lack of people pictures, this is still really fun to flip through and remember what's happened.

project life update: making progress

I'm back with a look at my project life album. Happy to say that I'm almost finished through April. That still sounds way-too-far-behind to me since the end of September is right around the corner, but when I look at last year's album AND SEE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (not even a single picture printed let alone an album bought), then I'm feeling pretty good about what I've been able to get done. I have pictures printed through August and I have most of them through July in protectors, just need to finish the journaling and all the pretty stuff.

I'm doing this as a monthly approach. Some months I have lots of pictures and stuff. Some months I don't. Some months I have 18,297 pictures of my dog. Some months I don't. I'm also not getting all worked up about where each new month begins. If it starts on the left, that's fine. If it's the right side, that's fine too. I don't have any of the Becky Higgins kits, I'm just using up my overwhelmingly large stash of stuff. Isn't that what it's all about anyway, making it work for you?

You saw this first picture in my last project life post, but I thought I'd show it again since this time I have the back finished. It was Wilson's first trip to the beach back in March.

I included some hand-written texts that went back and forth between my dad and I that made me laugh. We don't have smart phones so I can't do a screen shot. Or instagrams. Or lots of other cool things. Maybe some day. Anyway, you are forever documented, Dad.

Next up is our weekend getaway to Sunriver. We scored a Sharing Spree half-off deal and stayed in a nice condo. I was so happy to see the sun. Lots of rainy days here in the 'Couv make me go a little bit crazy. I enjoyed my light therapy that weekend!

I think I've said this before, but I love those little mini letter stickers. You can never have too many of those. {So if you're wondering what to get me for Christmas. . .} Used a bullet list to jot down some memories. And as I sit here blogging, other stuff is coming to my mind that I didn't get on the list - like how we kept seeing Wilson's name on signs all over the place. (I was going through puppy withdrawal.) Oh well. Life goes on.

We technically went to Sunriver in mid-April, but I'm putting it in my album before the actual month's title. Don't ask me why, I guess it just has better flow with the rest of the stuff this way.

The title card made more sense in my mind than when I actually got it put together. I did recut the April because the first one was way too big and you could hardly see the butterflies. It's not my favorite thing ever, but I'm going with it. 

 

My friend (and amazing card maker) Rachel invited me to go to a Blazer's game with her. It poured down rain that night and I was drenched when I got there, but we had such a good time. She had season tickets, a gift from her boss, and she took someone different to every game and documented the whole thing on Facebook. How fun is that? She also scrapbooks, so of course she had to be in mine.

And so it continues. Documenting life.
