Topic 10- Flashback Friday

I think this picture of Darick (and my friend Bridgette's son, Jack) is from July or August of 2004. I'm pretty sure it was the VBS right after our wedding. My dear friend Natalie took this and emailed it to me. I remember getting teary eyed when I first saw it and looking at it again and again. For some reason I was thinking about it today and thought it would be good for flashback Friday. I knew it was on the external hard drive somewhere and I almost couldn't find it. I was starting to get panicky. It wasn't where I thought it would be, but I did find it.

Darick is now 16 and lives in Gallup, New Mexico with his dad (and his dad's girlfriend and her kids and his three sisters). He's a sophomore in high school. He's tall and skinny. He's playing soccer at the special request of the coach (because they were short on players and he needed him). He's in his 2nd year of Navajo as a foreign language (which is so stupid). He's getting good grades and still likes to read a lot. He has a smart phone but still rarely sends me texts. As far as I know, he doesn't have a girlfriend. But he probably wouldn't tell me if he did.

I haven't seen him in three years (for him, three pretty rough years) and I miss him like crazy. I pray for him on my way to work every day. I'm hoping that it won't be another three years before I get to see him again.
