mrs.b. - reading intervention

So that job I mentioned in my last post???? Nailed it!
There were full and part time positions in several buildings. I was approached at two schools about applying. At first I wasn't going to because the job listing said "master's preferred, certification required." Well, I don't have my master's and I didn't have a literacy endorsement (which I thought was what they meant). But I applied anyway. Sent off my application on Wednesday night, had a call from the principal at one of the schools Thursday afternoon, and an email from HR the following Tuesday congratulating me on my new position. I didn't even have to interview, which I found rather ironic considering how many interviews I've had in the last year and a half.

I am now a half-time reading intervention teacher working afternoons. My official start day is December 9th, but I'll be shadowing some of my new co-workers on the 2nd and 3rd. And I'll have a week of training right before Christmas break. I'll mostly be working with small groups, teaching basic reading skills. The building where I'll be has a high percentage of Spanish and Russian speaking students, so they need lots of extra help. I'll be working out of the library, and from what I understand, will be the library lady for the kindergarten classes. That'll be fun. I'll also be able to sub in the mornings there as needed.

It's taken a long time, a lot of hard work, and many many prayers for all of this to happen. I'm still praying that it leads to something full time. In fact, I was asked today if someone from HR had mentioned the possibility of another half time position to add to this one, so it's definitely being thrown around by the powers that be.

And now, I'd better go spend some time reviewing phonemes, graphemes, digraphs, and blends because I have a strong feeling that I'll be talking about them a lot in the near future.

God had the perfect job for you. It will be exiting to see how He works the plan in your life and the lives of those you come in contact with.
