this week's breaking news: the deadly Oregon fungus

Did you hear on the news this week about the fatal fungus Cryptococcus Gattii that's floating around Oregon? (Look out, California, 'cause it's headed your way.) Just when we thought we might be getting out of the woods of dying from the H1N1.

So apparently we're not going to be able to garden or camp in the woods or even go outside because the poisonous spores are floating around just waiting to be inhaled. The fungus lives in the trees and in the dirt. And they seem to attack relatively healthy people the most.

That's what they said the first day.

Then a couple days later after panic and pandemonium may or may not have spread, we hear it's not going to be so bad afterall. And we can breathe a little easier. It's like having a fear of flying and deciding to drive instead - when in all likelihood, you'll be in a car accident before your plane will ever do a nose dive.

Translated: I'll probably die of the H1N1 before I die of the Cryptococcus Gattii.
