does anyone know why???

So, Dr. Phil and I had a mind-boggling conversation the other night. It went something like this. . . (brace yourselves, people)

Me: I always clean my ears when I get out of the shower. I can't stand having water dripping down my ears. That's why this handy-dandy Q-Tip container is always right there.

Dr. Phil: Why do they call them Q-Tips? Why not S-Tips or P-Tips?

Me: I have no idea. What on earth makes you think of such things?

If you are aware of why they are called Q-Tips, please, please, please let us know.

In other not-so-earth shattering news, I'm down to a day and a half with the munchkins. Tomorrow we have a walking field trip to the park with the 3rd grade and an ice cream sundae party because our class had the most auction items donated. Then Thursday is field day.

And let me tell you about this auction. Each class had a project and all the kids participated in making it. Ours was a big mirror. Like the kind of mirror that would take up an entire wall in our apartment. No, we didn't make it, we just signed our names. The signatures were then burned into the frame. It was really neat, seeing how they learn cursive in 2nd grade and all. All the class projects and a few big trips were auctioned off in a live auction. Can you believe that thing went for $1,025? Seriously. Then there was a room full of items for the silent auction. And the teachers all donated a "date." Mine was a trip to the scrapbook store to make one of those albums I wrote about not too long ago. For the low, low price of $110, I'm taking 2 BOYS to the scrapbook store. Yeah, that should be interesting. I was told that a conservative figure of money raised was around $80,000. Holy cow! (Do I see a raise in my near future?)

They're singing a song at the closing program Thursday night. I rewrote the lyrics to "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things" from the Sound of Music. It's all about 2nd grade stuff and oh so cute. Then when it's over, I'm going to be singing "So long, farewell, adios and goodbye" all the way home! ha.

From wikipedia:

"The inventor of the cotton swab is supposed to have been one Leo Gerstenzang, in the 1920s[2]. His product, which he named "Baby Gays", went on to become the most widely-sold brand name, "Q-tip".

"The word "Q-tip" means "Quality tip", with "tip" referring to the cotton tips at the end of the stick.

"They are sometimes referred to by South Africans as "ear buds" and are also known as ear-plungers."

So there you go.

Enjoy your last day and may you not even think about grading papers again until late August! :)
