Overall, I thought the movie was pretty good. The water. Oh my word, the water. There were some really touching moments of human kindness that made me cry and it does a great job of showing just how chaotic things were for the people who survived in the first few days after. Phil says it's predictable, but then again, it's the true story of a family's survival during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. So of course it's going to be predictable. The director took some liberties in the filming of it, but the scenes of the tsunami hitting the beach were pretty darn scary and the underwater scenes were painful looking (I was cringing in my chair), reinforcing my fear of killer tsunamis just waiting to happen on the Oregon/Washington coast.
And as it would turn out, the church campout is this weekend. On the coast. In a tsunami hazard zone.
Ya, probably not the best movie choice for me this week, but if you're not camping on the beach, go rent it.

I can NOT believe you watched that movie. It does sound good and I'll have to see it now but will probably be "cringing" or covering my eyes and ears during the scary parts.
Let's pray for smooth waters this weekend ;)
