last weekend

Last weekend we packed up the Jeep and headed to the coast. We haven't been anywhere since we went to Ohio last July, so it was time. We decided to make it an overnight stay in Rockaway Beach. It was wet and rainy, kind of foggy and dreary. A typical spring-ish day at the beach. Wilson had his first hotel stay. He did pretty well. It was a pet friendly hotel, so he made some new friends. He especially loved his early morning walk on the beach. Well, make that a run on the beach, because that's what he did practically the whole time.

After our checkout time (we watch as much HDTV as we can fit in before they kick us out) we headed south toward Lincoln City. The little town of Garibaldi has a pretty view. I love the randomness of trees growing out of rocks.

We didn't get to take the whole coastal scenic route because part of it was closed for repair, but we did pass by Cape Lookout. Here's a look down at the beach. A lot of times we've seen people jumping off this cliff in hang gliders, but not this time.
We stopped at the beach in Pacific City. I think this is my favorite rock on the whole Oregon Coast. It's so massive. It was fun to run into some friends from church while we were there. They're Wilson's adopted grandparents!
We went to Mo's in Lincoln City for fish and chips (halibut, yum!), clam strips, and a bowl of clam chowder. After a day of running on the beach, the pooch was tired. He slept like this between us for quite a bit of the way home.
I love going to the beach. There's nothing quite like falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean.
