7 minutes

Before we get too far into twenty thirteen, I thought a memory wrap up of twenty twelve was in order. I saw this on a blog and liked it. So I'm going to use it here. {And I hope this appeases the masses of readers out there who are wondering why I haven't blogged since December 22nd. All two of you.}

Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2012 in 7 minutes. Set an alarm for 7 minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2012.

A lot of what I'll remember about 2012 has to do with two things:
1. We got a dog.
2. I was unemployed for most of it.

I want to remember Wilson being so little. So soft and snuggly. Not that he was disobedient and jumped up on the counters too much. I want to remember how, because I had a dog, I walked more in this last year than in any years prior. I had a furry something to keep me company long after Phil went to bed and woke me up way too early in the mornings.

I don't want to remember filling out what is now probably 120 or so job applications, resumes, or cover letters. How my heart was filled with disappoinment when school started in September. How frustrated I got when people who said they'd call back after 2nd interviews didn't. How Christmas marked 7 months of not having a paycheck.

But it will be cool to think about the anonymous happy mail we got. An envelope filled with gift cards. A gift card slipped into our mailbox at church. Getting cards of encouragement from the ladies in my mom's Sunday school class.

Phil. I want to remember him for sure. I'll remember the romance. The heart shaped pizza on Valentine's Day. Date nights. A weekend getaway to Sunriver. Anniversary #8. Trips to the beach and walks along the river.

I'll look back on our trip to Ohio and spending time with my family. Remember cute little Lavender swinging at mom and dad's. Skyping with Jenny and her kids. Darick trying out and making show choir. Girls' day out with Mom, Jenny and Hannah. The Ohio State Fair with Dad, Mom and Darick. A new niece to love, Mona. Loving on my 92 year old Grandma.

I'll remember fun times with friends. A visit from the Snyders in July. Coffee and pie at LynWay with Mom, Natalie and Glenda. Checking out the new Craft Warehouse and spending the holidays with Barbara. Long phone calls with Kerry. Michelle's engagement. Dawn's front page article. Jenny organizing Hurricane Sandy relief. Keeping up with everybody on Facebook.

There's lots more, but my time is up. Here's to new memories in the new year.

Happy New Year. 2012 was not the greatest for me too.....and sadly it is the same rolling into 2013......but I am thinking we are only in month 1 of 12 so hopefully it will turn around for both of us. :)

Love your thoughts here. Each trial in life brings blessings... in God's timing. I have thought of you so often through this trial you are having without a job. It is never easy, but it is wonderful to see how the Lord provides. We have been there and I understand how hard it is. I will continue to pray that the Lord guides your steps to the perfect job in 2013. <3

Selfishly, I will remember 2012 as the year Wendy blogged more because she wasn't distracted by a job. Still praying that you find something, but I have to be honest that I have enjoyed your extra blog time :)

Your 7 minute exercise is a nice idea, although I'm sorry being unemployed was one of your 2. It sounds like you have a lot of good things to remember too that help balance things out. The happy mail you got was certainly a nice blessing, a soft sweet puppy is another good thing to hold on to. But of course, Phil is probably the best of all.

Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment on my Project Life post. It means a lot to me that you took the time to leave a genuine and thoughtful one.

May 2013 have wonderful things and many good times in store for you.

You did not just post, "I go in spurts with my hummus eating" !

You made me snort. I can barely type I'm laughing so cotton pickin' hard. You're killin' me, Smalls!

Now I have to go back and read the rest of the post after I contain myself.

Didn't know Knockels has a new one! Can't wait!

For the peanut butter craze, have you tried "White Chocolate Wonderful" ? It's worth the extra pennies (and Wally World carries it.)

Here's to busting the comment record! Love the aqua, too!

I like the memorial stones you set up through your posts as reminders of God's goodness. Your writing makes me hear your voice.
