week in the life - saturday

So I think this will be the last day of my week in the life for 2012. I didn't take any pictures at all on Sunday when I got home (I was pooped) so I may end up using pics from the tulip festival from the previous Sunday (but all I have are pictures of tulips) or just skip it altogether. I haven't decided yet.

I did try to take a self-portrait of some sort every day. This one was in the hotel bathroom mirror before we left for breakfast. (Note: objects in mirror appear thinner than they actually are.)
Then there's a big gap in time because I didn't take any pictures until the afternoon when we (my friend Barbara, her sister-in-law Sue and myself) drove from Hood River to the Dalles to check out the scrapbook store, Urban Paper. I'd been there once before on a trip to Spokane and remembered its cuteness. It did not disappoint. Plus she had Cat's Eye Chalk Inks. My fav! I can never find those around here. I bought one of those little tag sheets right there on the top row. Super cute!
Leaving the Dalles. Rolling hills. Hardly any trees. Oregon is weird that way. One side of the state it's trees as far as the eye can see. The other side, hills, rocks, and tumbleweed.
The Columbia. It's one big beautiful river.

And one from dinner. In which I look like a total dork. It looks like I've had a botched plastic surgery job that made me go bug-eyed. But that's why you people keep coming back. To see me make a fool of myself.

Somehow I plan on incorporating a couple verses the speaker used in one of the sessions (I forget which one now) in this album because I thought it was so fitting. She shared from the Message, which isn't what you'd say, the most regarded version of Bible scholars and seminary professors, but I do like that the language takes a verse or two that you've heard a thousand times before and makes something stand out and knock you upside the head. As soon as she started reading them, I knew they'd be perfect.

Romans 12:1-2 ~ So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Now tell me that's not the best set of verses for something called A Week in the Life???

Beautiful scenery out there... even if it goes from trees to nothing but tumbleweed. :) Good thoughts on the verses you posted. Loved your goofy pic. :)
