i figure it's time for an update

This weekend went by too fast. I wanted to take a nap. That didn't happen. I did get a lot of my scrapbook room unpacked. This whole moving thing is doing me in, people. I want it to be done. Someone please tell me that I will see my dining room table again.

I just recently finished reading Jaycee Dugard's book A Stolen Life. I saw her interview with Diane wanted to read the book. That girl is amazing. So resilient. Hard to believe all she went through in 18 years.

We went to Ikea yesterday afternoon looking for a smaller computer desk because the big bohemoth armoire just isn't working. Didn't find a desk, but got some new curtains for our bedroom. We have vertical blinds, but. . . they don't exactly close right. And our bedroom is now at the front of the house, street side, and it sort of jeebs me out a little bit. I chose some kind of polka-dotty textured sheers and some cream colored curtains. Here's what I love about Ikea curtains: you get both panels in the package AND they are really, really long. They even include this non-sewing self-hem kit so you can make them exactly as long as you want. I can't wait to get them up.

Phil505 went to the eye doctor last week. Turns out, he has to get glasses. I haven't seen them yet, but I'm sure it's the male version of Trendy Wendy. Because you all know I wouldn't allow anything but trendiness.

Speaking of my handsome husband, today he went to Costco for a few things. Came home with a little surprise for me. (Or maybe it was really for him.) It was the gigantic 3-pack of Libby's canned pumpkin. I said something the other day about baking some pumpkin bread or cookies and he took that as a sign. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with a stock-pile of canned pumpkin, now is there?

School is going. Ya, going. I'm slowly getting used to kindergarten. It's definitely different than anything I've ever done before. I don't have curriculum yet which has posed some problems. Namely in that I really don't have a clue as to what I should do or where they should be at this point. It's frustrating, but I get a lot of good ideas from pinterest and kinder blogs and I feel that I'm doing the best that I can. Today one of them thought Christopher Columbus was a President, so you can only imagine that whatever I teach them is surely better than nothing at all.

Oh, and did you hear about the woman that was 39 weeks pregnant that gave birth just a mere seven hours after running/walking the Chicago marathon? Seriously. Her doctor told her she could run the first half and walk the last half. Seven hours later, she had a baby. If that doesn't say get your butt off the couch and do something, than I don't know what does.

Happy Columbus Day, people. Hope you enjoyed the day off even if I didn't.
