2009 in review. . . almost a year's worth of self-portraits

Phil and I have really perfected the self-portrait thing in our five and a half years of marital bliss. Occasionally we use the tripod, but most of the time we use the ol' hold the camera out as far as you can reach method. As a result, we have more pictures of ourselves than we know what to do with. Some of these have already been posted in my blog while others have been hidden away in our external hard drive because I thought they weren't exactly blog-worthy - what I would post on a normal given day. But this day is New Year's Eve Eve, and it's not any normal given day. {For what reason, I don't really know.} I decided to try to compile a year's worth that reflects where we were and some of the things we did in 2009.

January ~ taken as we were ready to leave. I don't remember where we were going. Probably out for Mexican at Los Jalepenos. They have the best chicken chimichangas and lots of coupons for buy one, get one free deals. Note to self: always ask them for the mild salsa though.

February ~ Valentine's Day breakfast at Multnomah Falls. One of the coolest things we did for date night this year. (Ya, I know. It wasn't really a date night, but how many of you have eaten breakfast in a rustic lodge at the foot of a humungous waterfall on Valentine's Day?)

March ~ spring break trip to the most beautiful place on the Oregon coast, Shore Acres State Park. I want to go back. Sorry that our faces take up so much of the pretty view. And seriously, can my eyes get any squintier?

April ~ during my friend Jody's visit at Wahkeena Falls. This one is special. It became the 2009 Bergland family Christmas card. And how 'bout I didn't plan that wearing a little bit of red in there with all that green!

May ~ no pictures. We were too busy planting tomatoes and trying to make a path through all the boxes in the garage.

June ~ on my birthday whale watching trip. I was, and still am, amazed by the whales.
July ~ in the Gorge, at one of the falls, contemplating my recent job loss. I was so bummed.

August ~ this one is probably my favorite from the whole year, taken during Phil's birthday weekend getaway to the Washington coast. I held the camera out in front of us upside down as we were walking on the boardwalk and snapped the button.

September ~ the only self portrait from the month is of me with my recently wacked hairdo. Oh my word. It was so stinkin' short. It was the closest I've ever felt to being bald and/or manly. At least the highlights were good. And my hair grows fast, so it's all over with now.

October ~ messing around in the family room. Actually got a good one that I'm currently using as my facebook profile. This one is just funny because. . .well, because we're weird and we take lots and lots of self-portraits. Just two goofs that met each other on a Christian matchmaking site, fell in love, got married, and are living out their happily ever after.

November ~ missing in action because there were none taken. I know, not even one on Thanksgiving.

December ~ the annual "gotta take one in front of the tree." It only took us three tries.

Hope your year was jam-packed with as many great memories as I have. Here's to sharing more of them by blogging in 2010! Happy New Year, people!
