lest you think. . .

I have posted approximately eight blog posts with recipes. Recipes that are really good. Relatively easy to make. Taste fabulous. Things I've perfected.

And today, for the first time in my wifely career, I ruined dinner. RUINED IT.

Your typical turkey breast, crock-potted on low all day with a can of chicken broth and some herbs and a stalk of celery for extra flavor. I've done it before. Lots of times. My mistake - putting it in the super duper we-got-it-for-a-bridal-shower-gift extra hot crockpot instead of the old, small I-cook-at-normal-crockpot-temperatures crockpot, a hand me down from Phil's mom. The hot crockpot was just easier to get to this morning. And I was in a hurry.

I know the thing gets hot. I just didn't think it would get that hot.

Folks, turkey breast is supposed to be white. It's white meat. It's the part I like at Thankgiving. My turkey breast tonight - no white left. None. Nada. Zilch. It was brown. An ugly brown. A stinky, you-burned-me-in-the-super-hot-crockpot brown. Sad looking brown. It looks more like a roast than a turkey breast brown.

So lest you think, as I post recipes for your perusal, that I'm all about being the next Betty Crocker. . . just remember the brown.

HA!! I have resembled something like that in my cooking at one point. We all have those days. Crock pots are great, but some of them can truly be HOT!

Well I'm glad to see that you are human in the cooking department. It's still pretty amazing that is was your first diaster. And here I was ready to submit your name for the next Top Chef competition. Maybe next time.
