happy birthday, dad!!!!

Today is my dad's birthday. I'm going to take a gander and say he's 62. (Sorry dad, but my readers - all 3 of them - need to know.) I've never been all that great at remembering the ages of my parents, but I know he has his AARP card and I know he's already hit 60. So 62 is a pretty safe guess.

Here are some things I love about my dad. . .

  • When I call home, he always says something like, "What do you want?"
  • He'll get up at 3:00 in the morning just to take me back to the airport.
  • He's an exercise freak!
  • He has a tree that actually grows money.
  • He reads my blogs.
  • He's a great Pa-paw. How many grandpas do you know that let their grand daughters fix up their hair real nice like this AND actually let you get a picture of it?

  • He's using hip, modern-day technologies like cell phones & email.
  • He eats a piece of dark chocolate every day.
  • Often when I call him on his cell phone, he's at the grocery store with my mom.
  • He's planning a trip to Vancouver, right dad??? Well, you did say that one time NOT to get all excited, but I just can't help myself.
  • He's funny. Case in point. . .

  • He supports missionaries.
  • He's totally into sea salt.
  • He let me take a ride in his new truck. Sweet!!!!
  • In his old truck, (the light green truck from way back when) he used to be really good at running over ground hogs. I doubt he makes a habit of it in the Tundra.
  • He loves all my friends as much as I do.
  • He flies me home occasionally; but once he gets his share of me, then he sends me back.
  • He secretly wants to scrapbook shop with me.
  • He's still married to my mom (after all these years). That's a total inside joke, people.

  • He loves me. (Well, maybe not after this blog. But. . .)

Yep, so there you have it. Happy Birthday, Dad! Enjoy your day! Give me a call when the race is over!
