wow. kindergarteners have a lot of energy

For those people have been wondering how my week has gone. . .

Hi. I'm Mrs. Berg-a-lund. Or just Berg-a-lund to those who decide the title isn't so important. Things are going ok despite the fact that it's 952 degrees out right now, my feet hurt like you wouldn't believe, and no one told me not to use the blue rags on the tables with the sanitizing bleach water because they're for toilets only.

I guess there's always room for improvement.

On the other hand, I have had zero papers to bring home to grade.

My favorite line from the pre-k teacher next door: "Let's see if we can work this out with our words." I don't believe I've ever said that to a child. Until today.

We are learning that Mrs. Berg-a-lund means business. And that she expects us to get our work done before the timer dings or we'll surely miss time at recess. And when you have the opportunity to play in something that seriously resembles a McDonald's Playland every day, you might decide to get your first and last name traced and copied on your paper too.

I've learned that I don't know how to teach kids how to hold a pencil. Isn't it just something you should naturally know how to do? I've tied a lot of shoes and I've read about 20 picture books. I've even made up a chant for the ABC's because I can't stand the usual ABC song.

All in all, things are going ok. We're all learning together.

This made me smile. I am laughing WITH you and not AT you. Remember that. :) This time of learning will be great for all of you. I student taught in Kindergarten and I remember it well. You feel like you are starting everything from even before scratch. Hang in there Mrs. Berg-U-Land. :)

I know right! Kids should just naturally know how to hold a pencil because I can't figure out how to teach that either!!!
