the buckeye table

This past Saturday was the ladies' Christmas luncheon at our church. There's a theme every year and as soon as I heard this year's theme was Christmas Recipes, I knew I had to sign up to decorate a table.

If you've read my blog for some time, then you know the one sure Christmas treat I make every year is buckeyes. You might know them as peanut butter balls, but if you're from Ohio, then you don't dip the whole thing in chocolate because you want them to look like buckeyes. And they really do.

So we were supposed to decorate our table to represent our recipe in some way. I live in Washington, and I've only ever seen like one Ohio State hat in a sports shop at the mall (sad, I know), so I knew I was going to have to do a little online shopping to prepare for this shin-dig. The OSU team shop did not fail to disappoint. And may I just say, I love our china, but paper plates are the way to go.

I made buckeyes for my favors and found some Ohio State clipart to make the recipe cards and reserved signs.

My mom, bless her heart, even sent me a box of buckeyes from the tree in their yard. I used those in my centerpiece along with my necklace from Uncle Joe and shiny gray tulle that I scored for cheap at Jo Ann's. If you were at my wedding, and were one of 12 or so fabulous friends that lit candles (you know who you are), then you'll recognize the candle holders.

It's fun to get creative with the table, but it's a lot of work. That's why I'm on the every other year plan.

I'm thankful for the good friends that I've made in my six years out here.

Let's go Bucks!
