the annual christmas date

We have a little tradition of going on a musical Christmas date every December. This year we got tickets to see Manheim Steamroller. It was really neat to watch them incorporate really old instruments with synthesizers and strings. I enjoyed the guy on piano. His fingers moved faster than mine could ever dream. On a few songs he'd add in the triangle or the tambourine too. It was quite amazing how fast he moved. The concert was in "the Schnitz" - the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland. It's an old historic theatre that's been all restored. Well, I have my doubts as to whether the elevator has been restored, but it was absolutely beautiful inside. We were way up there, really high in the upper balcony. I think it was row X.
A nice lady offered to take our picture even though the usher told me that we weren't supposed to take pictures. Apparently Mannheim Steamroller people thought we might steal their ideas or something. I was a rebel anyway. I just turned off my flash.

The chandeliers in the lobby were very pretty.

Downtown Portland gets all decked out at Christmas. Just about every tree you see has white lights and then there's the big huge tree at Pioneer Square. I'm not a huge fan of going downtown normally, but it is fun at Christmas time. I'm already excited to see where we'll go for our show next year! I have the Transiberian Orchestra and Celtic Woman on my list. . .
