12 on the 12th

So I keep hearing about this scrapbook you can make called 12 on the 12th. Basically on the 12th day of every month, you take 12 pictures of normal everyday life stuff - doesn't have to be just people pictures, it could be your coffee shop in the morning, the blueberries you picked, the parking lot of Costco, whatever you want them to be. You do the same layout for each month, one 4X6 photo in the center and then smaller 2X2 or 2X3" photos around it. On the opposite side you do the journaling. Then when it's all said and done, you have a year in the life of you. Of course, being the over-a-year-behind-chronological scrapbooker that I am, I have yet to venture into these other really cool projects. I have started a few things, like a book about me, but have I finished it yet? No. Or what about that scrapbook I started last summer about my time at Tennessee Temple University - finish it yet? Nope. Mexico missions trip done? Nada. Wedding album? Ummmm. . . Do you see a pattern here???

Anyway, instead of taking 12 random pictures of my life, I'll just give you 12 random things I did today. It wasn't the most productive of days, but then again, my life is about to get really, really busy, and I'll be wishing I had a day like today.

1. Slept in til 9 because I stayed up til 1 watching the Olympics the night before.
2. Air-dryed my hair because our blowdryer blew out sparks at my husband this morning and he told me not to use it. He also saw that the cord had sort of melted. You don't have to tell me twice not to do something ignorant.
3. Went to Target to shop for a new blowdryer. Spent $6 more than I should've on one that said, and I quote, "Super Quiet." They lied. I should've bought the red one that was on sale. But this one does have that ion thing where I should end up with less frizz and more volume! Oooh, and I can't forget to mention the ceramic core for more even heat distribution.
4. Got a new top for the 1st day of school. When I asked Phil if he liked it, he said, "It's busy." I said, "So are 2nd graders."
5. Read my blogs I read everyday. Wrote one myself earlier.
6. Put away laundry and clean dishes.
7. Mailed my Grandma's birthday card (late) and real mail to a friend. I'm not saying who because she might be reading this blog and it could potentially ruin the real mail surprise which is the whole point of sending real mail in the first place.
8. Snacked on sweet, cold watermelon while deleting a bunch of junk emails. We are on too many lists.
9. Balanced the checkbook.
10. Looked online at some 2nd grade classrooms for a little inspiration. I have a lot to think about.
11. Had a quick dinner of BLTs minus the L.
12. Chatted with my mom who had a really bad day. One of the kids she keeps took a permanent marker to her new handmade Amish oak bed table. Also chatted with my sister who has four lively children and way too many animals. Oh, and if you want a puppy in a couple weeks, just lemme know.

So that was pretty much my day.

Yesterday my super strong and handsome husband helped me move the heavy furniture in my classroom yesterday, so it's taken on a whole new look! And I think the room looks bigger but I'm not sure because I still haven't put the desks out since they use the room for Sunday School classes. I'll be back in tomorrow finishing up the rest of the cupboards, maybe going through all the supplies that I ordered (if they've been passed out), and testing a potential new student. Wow! I can't believe how fast August is going by.

Scrapbooking 12 on the 12th... interesting concept!! I like the thought, but not sure if it would become a reality for me. lol I am doing good just to get the pages done any time. ha!!

Let me rephrase what I wrote on my blog about being ready. lol I was as ready as I would EVER be at that point. Believe me, when I walked in this morning I still thought of things that didn't make me feel 100% ready but by then, I had to deal with it and move on because here came those 24 kiddos. lol

All in all it was a great first day. Now I am pooped!!

When do you start, again?
