happy thoughts
Lately I've been feeling kind of depressed and blue. I'm missing my family and missing my friends. I'm out of school with a lot of time on my hands (mostly I'm by myself - which is part of my bigger problem) and it's easy for me to just sit around and be miserable. I'm trying my hardest to find a new job and I've sent out tons of applications and letters and no one's called yet. That's depressing.
Even Phil said tonight at dinner that I've been sad a lot lately. That he's been worrying about me.
Well, one thing that I've been doing in all my free time is reading a lot of blogs. They are mostly written by gals that work at Simple Scrapbooks or Creating Keepsakes magazines. I read a book I found at the library by one of them and she mentioned that she had a blog. So one day I went online and started reading. She's hilarious. Makes me laugh out loud. Mostly she never posts stuff about scrapbooking - just life in general sort of stuff. And she had links to all these other gals. So it's one of my latest obsessions. In some small way, they're my friends. Or at least I feel that if I ever met any of them personally, we'd have an instant click. Most of you who read my blogs know that I haven't really made too many connections friend-wise out here. And I get pretty darn lonely.
Anyways, one of them posted a page she did that listed 100 things that made her happy. She had a few pictures on it, but it was mostly just the text. She cut all 100 into strips and had them all out of order on her pages. It looked so cool. So I'm stealing her idea and making one for me. All day today I've been coming back in here to work on my list. I just finally finished it. It makes me feel better after reading what I've put. There are lots of things that I eventually came up with that I didn't think about when I first started writing.
It's not on my list, but something that's making me VERY HAPPY is that my mom and my 9 year old nephew, Darick, are coming to visit us on the 23rd. They'll be here almost a week. This is the first visit by any of my family and I just can't wait to see them. It's also the first time Darick's been in an airplane. He's been asking my mom questions about it. He wanted to know the other day if he was gonna get to meet the pilot! I sooooo hope he does.
All in all, I'm hoping my attitude and outlook on the everydayness oflife is on the up and up. It's something I've been praying about.
Here's my list. They aren't in any certain order - just posted at random as I thought of things. See if you get inspired to create one of your own. If you do, post it so I can read it.
