gettin' crafty

So I'm on spring break this week. We left Saturday morning and went to Spokane. It's a 6 hour drive of which the first hour is the best. Once you get through the Gorge and pass all the lovely waterfalls (which are beautiful this time of year with all the melting snow), there's nothing but desert, rocks, and an occasional tumbleweed blowing across the freeway. Eastern Washington/Oregon is rather barren.

We stayed with Phil's brother, Greg, his wife, Kristy, and their son, Cameron. We also saw Phil's other brother, Geoff and his family. We had a nice time and, as usual, the topics of conversation were unlike anywhere else. Did you know that "fat is not the enemy? Carbs are the enemy!!!" Oh, and what about gravity being only a theory? And have you ever heard of the Red Letter Edition Underground Church? Like I said, you can't get these types of mind-stimulating conversations anywhere else.

Phil & I mosied on home Tuesday morning. Yesterday we ran all kinds of errands and had the brakes on my car fixed. Today he had to work and I had to scrapbook. Yes, I had to. I've been planning this day for months! So, now that I'm almost only a year behind in our collection of photos & memorabilia (not including the wedding album which still isn't done), I thought I'd share the pages I did today. I'm proud of myself because I actually journaled two of the spreads. I'm known for going pages and pages without journaling.

OK - first off is the New Years pages. I did the title with my new cricut machine. Thank you, Jenny Wilen! She is the Ebay Queen of America. Obviously, these ones aren't journaled yet.

Next up, All I Wanted. . .The journaling box reads, "All I wanted was a simple self-portrait. It was time to update my myspace picture and since I had just had my hair done, I thought it would be the perfect time. With our newly acquired digital camera, I started snapping away pictures of myself. Little did I know what was going on behind me almost the whole entire time."
Yes, my crazy husband was making all these insanely funny facial features and gestures and I had no idea until later on when I looked at them. I totally cracked up and decided then and there that I had to do a scrapbook layout on the day to day craziness at our house.

Now that I'm done with the page, I notice that the pictures aren't on there very straight. I'll see how anal I am and if I decide to take them off to reposition them or not.

And finally. . .You and Me: "It was a surprisingly warm February afternoon. We visited the cemetery and decided that since the weather was so nice we'd take a walk around the beautiful grounds. We also happened to grab the camera and ended up taking these pictures of each other. It was nice to spend some time together. Holding hands. Pausing for a kiss. Just the two of us."

So there you have it folks, all my crafty goodness wrapped up into one nice blog. I'm looking forward to being done with my creative memories album so I can just move onto regular old cardstock. So much more freedom in that type of scrapbooking.

Tomorrow morning we're headed for the beach - Lincoln City, to be exact. Now, don't be all thinking that the weather is going to be warm and the water tropical. The last few days there's been snow on the coast. Not my idea of warm spring break weather, but there's nothing like some good old fashioned salt air to clean out your lungs and get you revved back up for school again. Which is coming up here rather quickly, right around the corner.

Ok, so I posted a comment yesterday and it didn't show up. So here it is again...great pages, Wendy! I loaded up on some scrapbook supplies while we've been back in the states. Hope you've been enjoying your Spring Break. Oh wait...you're a teacher, of course you're enjoying your Spring Break! ! :)
